Rocking Chair for Grandson

Many years ago. I bought a Roto Zip hand held tool when it first came out. Off one of those TV infomercials. And I have used this thing so much.  For just about every thing.  When I bought it. It came with a super cute cardboard template for this little rocking chair.  I held on to it. Thinking one day I would be able to make it.  And that day has come.

I made this rocking chair for my grandson Preston.  He loves Mickey so of course after I cut this out of 1/2 finished plywood.  I painted it Red and Black. And then cut the Mickey Vinyl Decal and used the free Disney Font for his name.

I had it sitting in line sight of where he comes in, in the morning.  And he seen it and got down from his Momma's arms, ran over to it. Got down on his knees and had his face about 5 inches from Mickey so he could see it real close. It was so cute.  He loves his chair and has been sitting in it and rocking all day.

Looks like I will be making a pink one next Christmas as Lil' Punkin has a baby sister coming in the next couple weeks.

I miss wood working, its a lot of work and takes me longer then it used to. But glad I kept all my power tools in my work shop so I can make some thing once in a while.

Now have to finish my last 3 vinyl decals by tomorrow. And Im done with Christmas gifts.

Thanks for stopping by!

Vinyl Monogram Tile

Can you believe this is my very first Vinyl on Tile!

Honestly, It is!  I haven't made these before so I thought I would give it a try for gifts this year for my Daughter and her husband and for my Son and his wife.  And it turned out so nice I made one for my friend and need to make one more.  I need to get another tile.

I bought the 12x12 tile at Lowes. They were only .98 cents each. And a pretty cream color with a little bit of texture.

And next I needed a Monogram.  Well the designer in me wouldn't let me buy one. So yep! You guessed it! I had to go and make one.  So I did.  I designed this all by hand. Made the thin frame, then added some flourishes. That was no easy task to figure out the placement.

Then I added the text. I just used Arial bold since the frame was so frilly. I went with a plain Letter Font. And hand placed each letter for each frame.  I then did a little technique in MTC where you place a rectangle over your image and do the Boolean Join choose the 2nd option and then places two long thin rectangles over the opening and welded.  And that gave me the opening for the Last Name.

For the Last name, I used the same Arial font but I choose to use the Italicized option just to change it up a little.  I then welded the whole frame together.  Then did simplified all the nodes taking it from 11K nodes to just 1100.  So it now cuts super clean and weeds really easy.

This is the one I made for my friend. I added flat back pearls from Want 2 Scrap around the edge. She is a scrapbooker so I know she will love that detail.  I added large in the corners and center, then medium in between and then two small tiny ones on both sides of the medium ones.

After making the 3 letters I needed. I decided to just make the whole alphabet. So this is my first Monogram.  And it has all 26 letters.  You can find this file on the Design Elements tab at the top. And the file types are: MTC, SVG, EPS/AI, PNG and PDF. And can be purchased here  RM00169 Monogram1

DXF File coming soon!
I'm going to have to re-install my AICS2 software to get a good DXF file for Craftrobo users using Robomaster and Silhouette users.  I did not like the results I got from Inkscape DXF imported in Robomaster. So I did not want to pass that on. As it was not up to my standards.  So as soon as I install my old software I will be able to add a DXF file to the store and will update the info.

Thanks for stopping by!

Can You Cut My Files????

Yes You Can!!!!! (Long Post)

I would first  like to thank these two ladies: Barbie Creech for helping me test my file to see what is the best method for my loyal KNK file users. And Thanks Darla Haverstock  for also helping me test my files.  I received a lot of information from both these ladies.  Barbie don’t have a blog (Yet!)  but Darla does so make sure you stop over and leave her some love on her blog. Stamping Under Doctors Orders (Love the name of her blog).LOL!

I now create in Make the Cut and export out to these file types from MTC:   SVG,  MTC, Vector PDF, EPS / AI and PNG (transparent back ground with no lines)

Please note: Most of the files I'm posting on the tabs above are from before I lost all my software so they have AI, GSD, KNK, SVG, WPC and MTC.  So please let me know if you need a PNG or PDF file.

Also, I'm trying to get a DXF option file for those that need a GSD file.  For Robomaster or Silhouette studios.  Will keep you posted on those.

On to file testing.

As far as KNK users.  Yes you can still use my newest files.

Barbie tried the EPS/AI file (listed as EPS in my files)  and said, the file imported just fine in KNK software. She said, It did ask her about welding the lines together as it has “Thick Line Attributes”
She chose to use the file as it and said it cut fine.  And also changed the file to thin lines and it also worked fine.  Here are her Instructions on how to change to thin lines in KNK studios

Instructions for changing from tick line attributes: By Barbie
Once the file has been imported into KNK Studio, select all.
On the right side of the screen is the design color palette. One square has a cross hatch pattern (means it is invisible). Pick a color from the color palette on the bottom and drag it to that square to make it a color. Doesn't matter what color.
Using the pen tip (stroke and fill tool) on the tool bar ( icon next to the bottom), change the thick lines to "no lines"
Now it should cut perfectly.

Barbie also tested the PDF in KNK studios and said it imported just fine. And she did this one with a ink pen test and said it did fine. So PDF is a option for KNK users as well.  She mentioned that KNK can cut by color, which I remember, but the raster pdf comes in as black and white. So maybe I need to separate all the pieces so you can recolor each and cut by color.

Thanks Barbie for all your help on this!

Darla did a more extensive testing because she has several software’s.  Here is her break down on all the file types she tested.

KNK studios, Darla liked the PDF option better. She says to : Use import and uncheck thick line attribute.  She also cut this file at 5.5 inches and it cut great. I had them test the “Bless this Home” free file on the free tab above. Wow, that was super small considering I designed it to cut super large. LOL  But this is the results you get when you design a file and take the time to reduce the nodes.

Great news because that keeps it "cuttable" for small cutters like silhouette and craftrobo too.

MTC : Darla uses a older version then I in MTC so she couldn’t open the MTC file. So she just imported the SVG and it cut beautifully as well.  Here is a little tip for those importing mine or anyone else's SVG exported from MTC into MTC.  .

If your cutting some thing that requires it to be a special size this is real important.  You need to click the import SVG. A window will open and you need to make sure you check the little box on the bottom that says: “Use Actual” and put 90 in the box and then it will open the size it was designed. Do this with any MTC file you use the SVG to import.

SIDE NOTE: If your importing some one else’s SVG like from SVG Cuts. You will put 72 in the box for it to come in the right size, It has to do with the software its designed in.

SCAL imported SVG and cut wonderfully.

Fairycut and Funtime both imported the PDF perfectly.

Silhouette Studio Designer edition:
I was also able to bring the SVG into without any problems although it opens HUGE so again has to be resized once opened but no big deal

Darla reminded me that I needed a DXF file for all the Craftrobo users that use Robomaster and all the Silhouette Studio users.  So Im going to have to work on that one as MTC don’t have a DXF export option (I asked for it and we will see if they add it) but I might have to do Inkscape to get you a DXF until then.

If you need any help or need file types. Leave me a comment and I will see what I can do.

Thanks again Ladies for all your help!

New File Tabs: Freebie Files and Baby / Kids File

I have added two more tabs at the top.

One is a Baby / Kids tab.  I will be loading every thing to do with Baby's and Kids on this tab. I'me new to making kids files so I'm sure as I get more scrapping layouts made I will need a few more files and titles.  So those will go on that page.  If you need a file for some thing. Let me know, I can always use some ideas. LOL

The other is Freebie File tab.  You may have some of these already.  So make sure to check this tab to see if you need any of these.

NOTE:  The files on the Free File tab will not get loaded to your cart. There is a link in Orange above the first file.  And all files on that page are in that one link so you can download all of them when your there. I did this as Paypal will not approve a total of $0.00.  It will only allow it if you add other files to your cart.  I didn't want you to have to pay to get a free file so I loaded them to Skydrive.  I am new to using this so if you have any issues with it. Leave me a comment and I will check it out ASAP.

Make sure to check file types as some are old and some are new.

Gluten and Wheat Free Food List!

For a couple of years. I have often thought I had issues with this.  My doctors have listed me with 23 different illnesses.  And the more I read about Gluten and Wheat allergies. I really think this is my problem.

The easiest way to find out is to try a Gluten free diet for a few weeks.  I'm willing to start this beginning the new year. But need some help.

So I'm looking for some good "Free" sites that list Gluten Free foods, Recipes and Meal plans.  Or maybe a yahoo group or facebook group.  What are some of the places you like to visit or maybe a book you really love and think I should get.

I'm doing a lot of looking on the net, but most don't give detailed list.  I'm a person that needs a list in front of me.  Of what I CAN have.  Not a long list telling me what I CAN"T have.

I would really appreciate some info if you would like to share.  You can either leave a comment below or your can email me at rsmobley85@gmail.com

Baby Card For My Daughter

I forgot to post this card I had made and had in my stash and gave to my daughter at her baby shower.

I used my file RM00153 Baby Mesh.  I designed it to cut to fit a card but it can be also resized larger for a mat for a layout.  I used my swiss dots cuttle bug folder to give it some texture.  And stamp set is from Just Rite Stampers "Bundle of Joy".

The baby is due Feb 3 but we had a early shower for her because she is expected to deliver early again. If you remember right.  Last baby shower we had on a Sunday and Baby "P" was born the next morning.  5 weeks early.  So she has been on weekly shot since she found out she was expecting. And those end in just a couple weeks when she is at 36 weeks.  And is expected to deliver soon after as she is already showing sings of early delivery.  So hoping for 36 weeks.

Here is the same file cut in blue.  So this file can be cut in any color to match a theme.

You can now purchase this file RM00153 Baby Mesh for only .99  And you can find other baby files on the tab above. Baby / Kids
