Back to Crafting and Sale!

So are y'all happy the holidays are over?  I am!  Did you do any crafting this weekend? I did!.

I worked on my "Favorite Christmas Recipes"  Cook book.  I added 3 more pages to it yesterday.  And still have a few more to add.  Of some new recipes I tried this year.

I think I will make another one for my Daughter and her new Husband.  They just bought their first house and are expecting their first Child in March.  And since we have always made the Christmas goodies together.  This is the first year we haven't.  As she has a lot going on with moving, and getting ready for the baby..  So next year, She will have her own cook book for all the things we have made though the year.  And she can carry on the tradition with her little ones.

I started this book 2 years ago, when I didn't know a whole lot about scrapping pages.  And wow, I looked at them yesterday, and they need a few things added, LOL!.   So I will post some of my pages after I add a little some thing to the pages.  So be looking for that to come soon.

Oh, before I forget.   You only have this week to grab the Grab bag at VDBC.  You know I always promote the Grab bag because its a awesome value.  But this month.  I'm in this one.  I have 3 cute 3D projects for you.  But now is your last chance to grab them and get a early start on next years projects. Before they go to the store and you have to purchase individually.

And while your there.  Be sure to check out my sale.  RSMobleys Designs Sale  Only a few days left.  I'm offering 40% off all my files over $2.00.   So that means all my collections are on sale as well.  But you only have till Dec. 31st to get this sale.( Remember, discount shows after you add item to cart)    And if you purchase, that means you qualify for my Customer appreciation sale. Lace Up Stocking Free File (AI, KNK, GSD, SVG, WPC and MTC)

Is every one ready for Christmas.  Only a few days left to get all those home made gifts made.  Check out my post below this one for some last minute Christmas gifts that are easy to make.

I have had one busy week.  I wasn't planing to bake this year as we decided not to put up the Christmas tree or decorate the house and yard.  Its been a rough year for us and with my daughter getting married and moving out.  Im not feeling to Christmasy.  But I was willing to make my husband home made Chocolate Chip Cookies. But he said "Honey, I would rather have Chocolate Covered Peanut butter ball"  So that turned in to. Several days of baking this week with my friend Jill. (Usually its me and my daughter but not this year).

I ended up making, Chocolate Chip Cookies, Almond bark covered pretzels. Dipped pretzel logs, Butter Toffee bars, White and Semi sweet Chocolate Covered Peanut butter balls, Chocolate fudge and Peanut butter fudge.  Some of these were new for me to make, so I have some new recipes to add to my Christmas recipe book.

I ran a box of goodies over to my Daughter and her husband in there new house.  And ran some over to some of the kids friends. And when I got there,  They gave a a box of fresh picked strawberries. From their strawberry farm,  Yum!  So good when fresh picked.  That was so sweet of them.

So with that out of the way, Im ready to play with my new software MTC.  (Make The Cut!)  which is really awesome.  I got a Cricut expression and gypsy for Christmas and needed some thing to cut to it.  So I bought MTC,  and then this week, I won a copy of SCAL2.  Oh My!  Which do I use now.  Hmmm!.

I have to tell you,  Im in love with how well the Expression cuts.  I swear,  You just click cut and let it go and it cuts like butter,  And just pulls off the mat so clean, meaning no need to use a blade knife to trim up chads and stuff.  Maybe now I will get more done.

So I needed some thing to put some gift cards in,  So I made this stocking and thought it would be cool to make it lace up for a different look.  I also love the Vintage Christmas look.  So that was easy to do with the right paper.

You can resize this file to what ever side you need, just select both and resize at the same time.  I cut 2 stockings and 2 tops.   (One is flipped in the file)  so you can cut both and just match wrong sides together.

You can use Ribbon to lace up the sides.  I started at the top left and laced around to the Right, and tied in a bow.  Then attached the top.

This file is free for Download for one week,  I will take it down. Dec 26th.  And this file is available in (AIv8, GSD 2.4, KNK, SVG, WPCv14 and MTC 2.3.2) Free Download RM00129      Password : iagreetou

This is my first file im offering in MTC format.  So let me know if there is any thing I need to change with this file as Im learning this software.

How about a Smokey Kitten update.  I swear I have never known a cat that likes water, I think I told you about how she plays in the water bowl, she jumps in the shower as soon as you open the door and she rolls all over and gets soaked,  When you turn on the water to brush your teeth,  She jumps in the sink and puts her head under the tunning water.

Now, lately she has been ambushing the other cats and little Chi Bandi at the water bowl.  I told my husband the other day we were in the kitchen,  and Bandit was at the water bowl. We have one of those 3 gallon water things for pets.  Well, Bandit was drinking water and Smokey snuck up behind him and pushed his head in the water,  A few minutes later,  she did the same thing to Rusty cat.

Then, I had a glass of soda on the table where I keep my laptop.  And Smokey jumped up there and decided she wanted a drink.
Then you know what came next.  Yep,  Trying to get the ice cubes out of the glass.
Oh lord, then the next day, She got in a heap of a mess.  We have 55 gallon fish tank and she usually sits on the back of the recliner and just watches the fish.  Well, My husband lifted the lid to put more water in the tank, And I guess she was watching because the next day,  She got on top of the fish tank and lifted the lid and stuck her head in and pulled her head out and lifted the whole lid light and all and it fell in the tank, my husband was yelling.  "She is going to electrocute my fish"   So we hurry up and unplugged the light and got the light and lid out of the tank and now have to keep some thing heavy on there.  Yesterday, Smokey learned how to open the top on the Q-tip container.  Lord this is like having a 2 year old running around the house.

Always some thing new with Smokey around.

Well, hope you enjoy my free file.  And have a wonderful weekend finishing up your holiday stuff.

Season's Greetings,
Thanks for stopping by!

Mini Chocolates Box Tutorial

Have you bought the Dec Grab Bag yet?  If not, don't worry you still have a 2 more weeks to grab it.  This is a $35 value and if you buy it before the end on Dec.  You only pay $7.  So dont let this get away.

I have 3 Christmas project in  there for you.  To help you finish up those last minute holiday gifts.  I already showed you the 3D ornaments that are so cute.
This file is now available RM00113 3D Ornaments
I also used that same file to make this super fast cute Christmas Card.  And the Free title "Joyous Noel"
is still posted at the VDCB forum. You must be a member to download it.  So please registers and check your conformation email.  Make sure to tell Chris that Sharon of RSMobleys Designs sent you.  So she knows to approve you.
Card made using my file RM00113
Then I showed you my Second file in the grab bag.  "Let it Snow" Christmas Luminary.

This file is now available RM00115 Let it Show Luminary
And now, I'm going to show you the 3rd file I have in the grab bag.  This one is super handy and really cute as well.   This one can be used as many things.   Are you Ready!   Here it is along with a tutorial.

This file is now available RM00114 Miniature Chocolates Box

This is a super cut box I designed for my husband.  He dont like the Nuggets but he loves those little Miniatures candy bars, you know the ones that come in the mixed bags that have 4 different kids in them.  So I made this little box for him for Christmas.  And the great thing is.  This one has a window and you can use the cut our for your gag, Yay! How great is that.

And get this.  I tried it and Gift cards fit in here as well.  So this makes a great gift box for any holiday.  Also you can use it for Jewelry box or any thing small.  You never have to buy a box again.   If you purchase this grab bag or file when it goes to store.  It comes with full instructions on where to fold and score.  So its really easy.

First you cut all your pieces.  I have added all the pieces you need in the file. So no guess work on these.  Assemble you box bottom and top.  (Again, I have detailed instructions in the file and you get those when you purchase)
I had cut this out of pattern paper first and then decided I wanted it a little more sturdy.  So if you dont use a sturdy paper at first. Not to worry.  You can fix that.  I just cut another top and bottom box from the file and put it together and slid it inside the pattern paper one.  it will be a tight fit, but its nice and sturdy now.  I added glue to the sides in between both just to make sure they didnt come apart.
With the top, I wanted to make sure the hole met up perfectly. So I put adheasive on the top around the hole. and attached the pattern paper.  and then started attaching the sides.
Do the end flaps last. And your finished box is ready for the window.
I save all the flat clear acrylic from my cuttle bug folders and backs of other things I buy.  Because they are great to reuse.  Like for this. I cut one to the side of the top of the box.  I then used my Snowflakes Embossing folder and ran it though the cuttle but and got this cool embossed effect. Think how perfect that will be with other embossing folders like birthday, Weddings folders. Thank you folders. So many uses.
Then I used a little clear adheasive and attached it to the inside of the box.

This box will hold 8 of the Miniatures Chocolate bars.  I already have all the parts in the file.  so you just select those and cut. No need to copy and past and make more.  Select any 2 papers you like.  I chose a green cardstock to go with my red and green Christmas paper. I assembled all 8 of these first.
Wrap each paper around your little Miniature chocolate bar and use a little adheasive or clear tape to hold it.

Here you can see that they fit perfect for 4 X 2 high for total of 8.  And the cut out from the top makes a great tag.

Here is the finished Miniture Chocolates box. All wrapped with a bow and I stamped with a Christmas stamp on the front, and wrote To: and From: on the other side.

These are perfect for stocking suffers.  Office gifts and don't forget.  Gift cards fit in this. And you can use for any holiday or  occasion.  So dont let this great value for a total of 9 files for $7 slip by.  You only have 2 weeks left to get the DEC GRAB BAG!

Well, I'm off to make more covered pretzels as my son and husband ate all the ones I made last night and I need some for the goodie baskets for some friends.

I hope you enjoyed my tutorial and love the files.

Happy Holidays and Thanks for stopping by!

Dec Grab bag 2nd File

Hello Friends,

Today im showing you my 2nd file RM00115 Let It Snow Luminary

Okay, You all know that I love 2 things about Christmas.  One is Blue, White and Silver, the other is Snowmen and Snowflakes.  So how fitting is this.   Since I made to other Regular Christmas Luminaries I just had to make the last one blue white and silver.

This file is only available right now in the Dec Grab bag.  After Dec. It will go up in store for a higher price. So get it now along with 8 other files.

I used blue cardstock for this one and Sulyn glitter glue and a shinny silver ribbon.  For the vellum I used alcohol inks in Stream and pearl mixatives in Silver and Pearl.

This one has a Snowman with Snowflakes and the other side has a big Snowflake and it in says "Let it Snow"  and like the rest, they letters are made so that they cut out perfect so now piecing.  And you can use the cut out words for a Card.  I love getting double use out of a file.  All my Luminaries are like this.

Hope you enjoy this file and next I will be showing you my 3rd file in this grab bag.

I Did It! I bought Make the Cut !

Well, I have been thinking about this for a few weeks,  And was torn bewteen Scal2 and MTC.

I checked the Comparison Chart that is out.  Now this only shows MTC 2.3.2.  And it compairs to SCAL2.  And since this came out,  MTC Beta 3.0 Has been released and it is working great.  So some things have been updated since this chart came out.

I have been attending the Webinars, and Joined the MTC Yahoo group and the MTC TUTS Yahoo group. And don't forget the MTC Forum.    There are Webinars every Tuesday night with live questions, Answers and demos.  Tons of support and the software is really easy to use.  I love the new Lattice and Rhinestone features.   I am still hoping one day they will add the Node Edit and Pencil Icon features as I design all my files.  And those are important to me.  I know that SCAL2 has those.  But the Benifits on MTC out weighted that.  As I can still design in my KNK software and export and use my SVG in MTC.  So its going to be great.

If your using  MTC 2.3.2  you really should download the 3.0.  You can save it as MTC 3.0 so it wont over ride your first version.   There are so many things that have been upgraded in 3.0 it really makes the software great to work with.  Thinks like open lines in 2.3.2 have been fixed in 3.0.  Download trial version here and see partial list of features.

Hope you try out this software, It works with your Cricut machines.

How do you stack your cutters?

Now that I have several digital cutters.  And they take up usable play space on my counter top.  I'm looking for a great way to sack them.

I have a KNK Groove, Cricut Expression and Craftrobo.  I haven't used the Craftrobo in a while but my friend does when she comes over to scrap.  So I'm going to leave it as her crafting station for now.

So here his how I keep my KNK I use almost every day.
Right now, how I work is, my counter is in a "L" shape.  So I have 2 stations on the 10 foot section along the wall.  You see the blue and purple mat.  Yep!  Those are the same ones you see in my picture tutorials.  I sit there and work, take pictures. Then my KNK is right there to my left.  I have it here because as you know its a big machine and if you use the large mat you need 2 feet or more in front and behind for clearance.  So this works the best in the corner. And yes, those are telephone books, I have them in front and behind to help keep the Mat level as it travels. I don't think they make the flat beds for these any more so for now, this works, and one day I will work some thing better looking out.

And on the Left of the KNK is my Computer center.  I have my laptop which is connected to the KNK, my printer, the wireless router, the cooler pad for the laptop, Digital scale for mailing all the packages.  So where the heck am I going to put the New Cricut Expression so I can hook it up to the laptop as well.

Well, I'm going to give this a try and see how it works. I bought this white shelf (also comes in black) at walmart it was $13.97.  I had to really check the sizes as they had 3 different shelves.  And I measured the length of my KNK which is about 24 inches, and I measure how tall and its about 12 so I got this one # 9177.  Which was the middle size one.  The Shelf is 22inches wide and the opening was perfect clearance for the mat. So don't get a smaller one if you have a 13" Cutter. And the sides are open so you know the machine will fit in side.  And its 14 wide so its plenty wide enough for the machine.  And the spacing between the shelves is over 13.  So I thought this might work perfect.
Well, what do you think?  My KNK Groove fit perfect in side, and as you see there is just enough room for the mat to go through (where the black is) and I still have the clearance in the back to put the phone books to support the mat. and the top clearance is perfect. I have enough room to use the buttons to set the origin and set the pressure and speed. You can wrap the cords around the legs so they aren't in the way.  And then I set my Cricut Expression on top.  And its also good size.   And the Cricut is perfect height for me when I'm standing, which I do usually any way as I'm running around for paper for the next shape to cut, LOL!

So, now I have a few shelves left. I could add the robo on top. As storage. I could also shorten the legs as they are plastic and you can cut them with a hack saw or miter saw. So it wouldn't be so high.  But for now, I think I'm going to use the rest of the shelves to put my printer on and put my digital scale on and some other stuff, So I can get them off the counter.

Now if your asking about Mat support for the cricut. Well, I'm thinking of getting some "L" brackets and attaching them to the shelf and adding a white board on to the back of the shelf so it will support the Cricut mats. I have them in the shed so just need to go dig them out and give this a go.

So do you think this will work!  We will see.

Thanks for stopping by!

3D Ornament File RM00113 Tutorial

As you know.  I'm one of the 3 designers in the December Grab Bag.  This is one of my 3 Files I'm going to show you.  And I absolutely love how these turned out.  And just so you know how to put them together.  I'm going to show you a tutorial on them.

And just know that you can use these either just one piece and use them on a card with a cute Ribbon. Like they are hanging.  Or you can cut 2 and make them double sided or You can cut 3 and make them 3D or 4D or 5D, you get the picture.  Be as creative as you like.  I added glitter glue and beads to bling them up.

I have put 3 different ornaments in this one file.  And this is one of them.  I used a pretty dotted Christmas paper.  In the finished picture above. I used the same color glitter glues on each of the dots. So it has some real bling.  and you can see the beads I used for the center. I had these in my craft box so just used these. For this one I duplicated the shape and cut 3. So this one is 3D.  I folded down the center with my Score pal. and folded.

I used Aleene's Tacky glue. to glue all but the last sides together.  I stung my beads on a pretty thread. And positioned it in the center. And put the thread in the crease of the paper.  I then added glue to the center with the thread to help it stay.
And also tied a knot at the top so it wont slip.  And Glued the sides together.

I cut the top part out of a gold shinny paper. and glued the on one at a time. You can see here, is the last side, and make sure the thread is all the way up as well.

This shows you that all of them go together the same way. I had already put the first one together so its not in the picture. But it goes together the same way.

And here is the final picture.  I just love these, when you hang them the just spin so pretty.  They would look great on our Tree, hanging in your Office or Class room with every ones name on them.  On your light over our Chrismas dinner table.  They are super easy to make and put together.  Use some pretty pattern paper and bling them up.

Right now for the Month of Dec.  The only place you can get this file is in the Dec Grab Bag.  After that, it will be in store in January.  At a higher price then you will pay if you buy this grab bag from now till Dec 31st. You get this file my other 2 files and 6 other files from 2 designers. For a total of 9 files for $7.  That's only $ .78 a file.  It will be a lot more then that in the store in January so don't let this value get away.

I will show you my 2nd file soon.

I hope you enjoyed my file and tutorial.  My files are available in AI, KNK, GSD 2.4 , SVG and WPCv14.  And yes my files work with MTC and other software that cuts to the cricut.   If you need a different file type. Please let me know.  I will do what I can to get you the right file type.

If your looking for the VDBC Newsletter, Don't worry, You didn't miss it.  I will post the link as soon as its comes out in a few days.

New Arrival Layout and Punch Tutorial

Today, I spent the day working on my newest layout.  I just love how it turned out. I think I'm getting better with these layouts.  They don't take me days to let them grow now that I'm doing more.  This one makes # 18 for this year.  That is really good considering I was a card maker. LOL!

I used my Nov Main kit from My Creative Scrapbook kit club and entered this in the Nov Big Sketch Challenge.   Solid blue is DCWV and the trim is a boarder punch I will have a tutorial later in this post.  Most stuff on this layout is from Fancy Pants, "Happy Together"

The scalloped boarder with the woven ribbon and the stork and baby I designed and cut on my KNK Groove.  RM00125 New Arrival Baby Stork Layout

Now for the tutorial,  I have had this punch for several months and had it in a box with the rest of the new stuff I need to catalog and organize and put away.  Well, today, I finally opened it and give it a try.  And WOW!  I love how EASY and FAST this punch is to use.  I just had to take pictures and show you how easy it is to use.

The punch is by Fiskars and is called "A Tisket, A Tasket Boarder Corner Punch"
If the picture on the link.  That picture shows a bigger boarder.  But I didn't get that when I did it, So I will show you what I did with it.

This is the punch and yes, that is Smokey in the picture.  You will probably see Smokey in a lot of my pictures.  As she is where ever I am. LOL!.
r
I drew a line on this paper so you can see the lines, and on the actual punch, they aren't lines, they are actual staggered steps, Which I think is the coolest thing.
With this punch, you don't need to remember weird number sizes like other punches.  This one works in 1 inch increments. So you can have either a square or a rectangle of any size and this will work perfect. I think that is just awesome.  I will show you how to do rectangles in a few more pictures.
First you put you paper in and line up along the back and the first line and you do both, so you have the first corner and first chain.
This is what it will look like after the first punch,

Second step. You lift the corner punch so you don't do it again.  And you line up the corner of your paper with the 2nd step and again align along the back.
Next you do the 3rd step and punch,  You do this until you get about an inch from the end.
It will look like this.  And now you will do the corner and go around.
You just turn and line up the corner on the first line step like you did when you began, and punch both and it looks like this.
When you get all the way around.  This is what your finished trim looks like, and as you see the outer trim is not as wide as it is in the picture on the Fiskars web site, to me it looked like it was supposed to be removed.
So I took my Cutter bee scissors and I trimmed the little connection all the way around.  And I like how it looks a lot better now.

Don't you think this looks better, It looks like a more finished frame. Now just a few pictures to show you how to do longer ones.
This is the one I did for my layout above. And its longer then the last step.  So as long as your paper is in even 1 inch sizes, it will still work.  So you just take your paper and match up the design with the white image on the end. And continue to punch. Until your one inch from the end.  On your last end. You finish with just the straigh part.
And here is the finished one.  this one was cut 10 x 10.  And I did cut the outer edge off. It just didn't look right to me.  I guess I'm used to the other punches that remove the outer edge.

Well, that's it for now.   I hope you enjoyed my new layout and my punch tutorial.
